The Richland School District Board of Education has been discussing possible changes to the configuration of its school buildings. At the October 15, 2018 meeting the board, district staff, parents, students, and community members viewed a presentation regarding the possible transition from “attendance area assigned schools” to “grade level assigned schools.”

At the November 5, 2018 meeting there was a time set aside for the public to discuss their ideas about this with the Board. There will be another hearing at the November 19, 2018 meeting, which will be held at Richland Center High School in the IMC, beginning at 7:30 PM. Some of the ideas that are being considered are moving grades 7 and 8 to the high school building, using the current middle school building as an upper elementary center, and moving all lower elementary classrooms to Doudna and/or Jefferson Elementary Schools.

The public is welcome to attend regular board meetings, which are held on the first and third Mondays of each month. All meeting notices/agendas are posted at each school building and on the District web site.
